Email scam "click here to read this"

Apologies, but am unable to fathom how to access your search facility. This question may have been asked already.

I received an email from a friend subject- wooow. On opening the email the narrative reads "click here to read this"

When i clicked on this, it opened up my file "My documents" listing the contents.

I now know the email was sent without my friends knowledge, her hotmial email having been hijacked. I have put the email into deleted items(outlook).

I use Windows XP; all emails are initially received in Mailwasher.

What steps should I take to remove any problem this may have caused. Is it sufficient to run ESET antivirus? Many thanks.
