jvc combo recorder

can anyone help with the problem i have with my jvc vcr/vcd combo recorder.when i switch it on the lights flash for 2 seconds then the machine fais to respond thanks scrum half

Unplug everything apart from the mains lead. If it works, plug in 1 thing at a time, eg, TV, External appliances until fault is found.

If nothing, refer to supplier if under warranty, or local repair man.

To be frank, it sounds as if a rectifier may have blown.

Could be a power supply fault or main board or it's failing a self-test on boot up.

Probably the only things other that you can check are:

VCR or DVD stuck in drive.

Clock/channel battery needs replacing.

HDD faulty

Depends on model, it may not have a battery or hard drive.

Thanks guys for you responses, from what you say i imagine the problem to be a power unit fault. but i welcome any other suggestions. thanks again scrum half
