synchronise android HTC Legend with PC

for much of last year I could synchronise this smart phone. About eight weeks ago the software I was using HTC Sync had to be reinstalled – but it was not possible to do so because of the Adobe Air component required. I have wasted hours trying to get round this problem and think I should now give up.

My question is: can anyone recommend a synchronisation program between my smart phone and a Windows 7 PC that is not over complex and which works well. The one thing it should not do is jumble up the data in my Contacts list which was failing with my previous set up (although the synchronisation was okay)
