cannot get rid of an earlier version of Adobe Air

I still cannot load Adobe Air. I have disabled Windows Installer Logging and tried again, only to fail. Looking at the log file (in %temp% )I get the message "Error 1714. The older version of Adobe AIR cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. System Error 1612."

Adobe support is unhelpful unless I pay and I am surprised that they have not picked up my difficulty.

Does anybody know how to get rid of an older version of Adobe Air?

Although it relates to uninstalling BBC iPlayer this link also shows how to remove the remnants of Adobe Air. Note that you also have to go to Control Panel and arange to show hidden files first.

thank you Northumbria61,rdave13, and sea urchin for your suggestions. I have now tried them all, rebooted and without success.

I think I should stop wasting time and find another synchronisation program for linking my android driven HTC legend with my PC. Any suggestions anyone?

Again many thanks for your trouble
