screen freeze

Merry xmas , hope you all had a good time , My father in law got a new usb mouse in the shape of a car from santa and the screen freezes after a couple of clicks . He uses xp . Any ideas . Civicr

When first installed, did it show as new hardware?. Did the new mouse come with drivers?. How many 'buttons' does the mouse have, perhaps including scroll?.

Should have also asked. When you say the screen freezes, does the mouse pointer still works, locks or vanishes?.

two buttons with scroll . Nothing works when freezing , you have to reboot. Not sure what came with it driver wise , but I have something similar and it just worked.
