File transfer between PC's

Windows has it's own easy transfer programme and say you need an easy transfer cable. I notice Amazon and others sell these. Has anyone used these and do they work? I've read that you need extra software. My old pc runs on XP and my new on Windows 7 pro.

You need to download Windows Easy Transfer for XP from Ms here You can then use a cable if you wish (yes, they do work) or use an external drive

I use a cable between a WinXP PC and a Windows 7 PC. It doesn't need drivers or any other software. It's a cable with a USB plug at each end. You plug them into your PC's and away you go. Mine is called...

USB2.0 Easy Link/Network Cable.

It also says...

No Driver needed, true plug and play. RoHs complient
