problem with Netgear DGN1000 and PS3

hi guys

i've recently got a netgear DGN1000 router to tide me over until Sky send me a new one. The internet isn't brilliant on it but it'll do for now, but my issue is with my PS3.

I can log into Playstation Network fine, but I can't play the game I want to online, it comes up with the serves are not available....but I have friends on there playing the same game. To me that sounds like a router problem? Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction?

Wireless or wired connection?

If wireless it may be the security that is stopping you.
