Router timeout query

I'm with Talktalk and use a D-link DSL-2680 router. It arrived with a 30 minute timeout pre-set, which didn't unduly bother me as, when it turns off it immediately comes back on if I begin to do anything that requires the internet connection. The settings to alter the timeout are simple...an onscreen page with a box to change the allotted time in minutes, where 0 means always on.However I have just discovered that if I set it to 60 minutes, it doesn't cut off after the hour, but instead remains on permanently, despite not being set to 0. Can anyone advise?
