I Bought a Used Pc (dell optiplex) about 6 months ago, ever since I bought it it keeps crashing once and a while, maybe once every couple of days, sometimes once every day, and its very annoying when it happens and your in the middle of doing something important. I did have a problem about a week ago in relation to the ialmdd5.DLL file, I thought I removed the Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows (in add/remove programs)But im still getting problems....and its just not that file, its a couple of other files giving me problems, (please look below for the BSOD report, Look forward to any replies, thank you.

STOP 0x000000EA, THREADSTUCKINDEVICEDRIVER This problem occurs because your computer has an Nvidia video card installed that uses the Nv4.sys video driver.

To see if your system is using one of these drivers use the following procedure:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Under the Display Adapters icon, click to highlight the display adapter, right-click it, and then click Properties.
  3. Under the Driver tab, press the Driver Details button to view the driver names.
  4. If you have multiple display adapters, repeat these steps for each adapter.

To resolve this problem, obtain an updated driver by contacting your video card manufacturer, or visit the following Nvidia Web site: http://www.nvidia.com

0x1000007e and 0x1000008e are caused by the Audio driver, so again in device manager, update this driver

0x1000007f is a harder one and may be down to a hardware fault such as failing memory however it can be caused by a virus so run an uptodate virus checker and also can be caused by bad drivers so it may well go away when you have updated the other two drivers.

Okay, Iv updated the Intel Driver, Did a FULL virus search, (did find 8 Bugs/Virus) And now im about to Update the Audio driver, however, there are 6 different drivers, when I right click on the ''sound, video and game controllers'' it doesnt give me an option to update the driver, only on the 6 drivers below

Audio Codecs

Legacy Audio Driver

Legacy video capture Device

Media Control device

SoundMax Intergrated Digital Audio

Video Codecs

It does give me the option to update the drivers if I individually Click on any of those drivers, so what what should I update?

use siw to find exactly what audio card / chip you have and download the driver from the makers website.

If you get any more BSOD that are difficult to interpret, Bluescreenview (free) from here gives a decode that's much easier to understand.

Thanks for you answers, I downloaded Drivermax, it says I have 16 updates that are needed, one of them was a USB human interface, after I updated that driver using their program my mouse froze and I had to system restore using my keyboard, thank God it worked. But now I still have 16 updates but Im afraid now becuase even If I leave the USB update alone maybe the other updates might screw up my pc, there is a sound udate, but im afrid that if I update that driver my sound might go off, ill wait for your advise first before making any other updates,

For any of these updates, you can always roll back the installation. Personally, I don't update drivers for items that are working OK. try running the programme I suggested to determine which driver is causing the problem.

Well all my systems seem to work fine, its just alot of the drivers are currupt, my pc just crash about 20 min, this time the report says ntoskrnl.exe driver was to blame, How do I roll back the driver using Driver max, if need be..

thanks for your help, getting frustrated, dont want to re-insatll windows because I have a ton of important stuff saved on my pc.

' I have a ton of important stuff saved on my pc.'

Exactly why a backup should be kept then a reinstall is not a problem. I doubt your drivers are corrupt - drivermax will just advise those that are out of date.

have you tried Bluescreenview yet?

You can roll back the driver through Device Manager (ie, through Windows not drivermax).
