Will an iPad 2 output BBC iplayer recorded items to a TV via an HDMI cable?

Nope not via HDMI, however try the iPad 2 5-in-1 Camera Connection Kit

Yes it will. You need the iPad HDMI connector. Digital AV Adaptor. I have viewed iPlayer on my TV doing this.

However I didn't find it 100% satisfactory. It was watch-able but did not fill the screen on the TV.
