PC Price Check Help

Hi

I'm thinking of purchasing a custom PC especially for 3D Design; specifically to run software such as 3DS Max, Maya and the Unreal Editor for the games industry.

Unfortunately I don't know much about PC specification and whether or not I am being ripped off, I've visited the site www.pcspecialist.co.uk as they have a very easy to use interface to build a PC but I just wanted to check with some experts that I'm not being charged the earth for the various bits and bobs.

I do not really want to go the route of buying everything separately and building the thing myself UNLESS it will dramatically save me money which is why I have not listed the individual prices of the PC.

Anyway this is the list of things I would be getting for my money:

Case BLACK ENIGMA MICRO-ATX CASE + 2 FRONT USB

Processor 16GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (4 X 4GB)

Graphics Card 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 - 2 DVI,HDMI,VGA - 3D Vision Ready

Memory - 1st Hard Disk 250GB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm)

1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Memory Card Reader INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT

Power Supply 450W Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan (£29)

Processor Cooling INTEL SOCKET LGA1155 STANDARD CPU COOLER

Sound Card ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)

Network Facilities 10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT - AS STANDARD ON ALL PCs

USB Options 4 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL (MIN 2 FRONT PORTS) AS STANDARD

Operating System Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence (£79)

Office Software FREE Microsoft® Office Starter 2010 (Limited functionality Word & Excel)

Anti-Virus BULLGUARD INTERNET SECURITY - FREE 90 DAY TRIAL

Monitor 19" Widescreen TFT 1360 x 768 2MS, D-Sub, DVI, 18.5" Panel (£79)

2nd Monitor 19" Widescreen TFT 1360 x 768 2MS, D-Sub, DVI, 18.5" Panel (£79)

DVI-D & HDMI Monitor Cables 1 x 2 METRE DVI-D CABLE (£5)

Warranty 3 Year Standard Warranty (1 Month Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour)

All in all the website is quoting me £984 including delivery.

Am I being truly ripped off or is that an OK price?

Thanks in advance!

You could try this company and see what they would charge for the same spec.

Your selection isn't complete & some components are not appropriate.

Case COOLERMASTER SILEO 500 QUIET MID TOWER CASE (your microATX case is too small for the graphic card)

Processor Intel® Core™i5-2500k Quad Core (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache) + HD Graphics (you haven't chosen any)

Graphics Card 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 - 2 DVI,HDMI,VGA - 3D Vision Ready ( tbh you should need a workstation card for your task)

Motherboard ASUS® P8Z68-V/GEN3: PCI-E 3.0 READY, SLI, CROSSFIRE (you haven't chosen any)

Memory (RAM) 16GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (4 X 4GB)

1st Hard Disk 500GB SEAGATE Barracuda SATA-III 6Gb/s HDD, 32MB Cache (7200rpm) (your chosen 250GB is far too small, if you already have an external HDD then get a single 1 TB one instead)

2nd Hard Disk 500GB SEAGATE Barracuda SATA-III 6Gb/s HDD, 32MB Cache (7200rpm) (for back up)

Power Supply CORSAIR 650W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX650 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE (your chosen one is not up to the job)

1st Monitor IIYAMA E2273HDS 22" LED WIDESCREEN, HDMI/DVI-D 1920x1080 (you'll need a bigger Monitor with higher resolution for your task)

2nd Monitor IIYAMA E2273HDS 22" LED WIDESCREEN, HDMI/DVI-D 1920x1080

The rest of the package are the same & price will come to £1241.00 (could be more if including keyboard, mouse & speakers)

Also for an extra £35 I can boost the hard drive up to 1TB:

Memory - 1st Hard Disk 1TB SATA-II 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 32MB CACHE (7,200rpm)

Any better?
