Windows Explorer 9, - Problems Loading Javascript Pages in New Window

I find that I cannot open a page in Windows Explorer 9 that contains Javascript, if that page is one that opens as a new page from another page.

An example is a slideshow which opens from a main page,- http://www.enicholl.com/priory-friends/html-files/visits-photo-gallery/photo-gallery-visits-2011.htm#advent There is no problem opening such a page in Firefox or Chrome (my browsers of choice).

I gather this problem has something to do with "ActiveX controls", - whatever they are. Any ideas how to get round this, please. I don't like Windows Explorer 9, but other people use it so websites such as that mentioned above need to work.

Try IE without add-ons. Start, all programs, accessories, system tools. See if it works in that mode.

IE9 still doesn't do what it's meant to do without add-ons.

I'll do a rigorous check tomorrow morning using another PC, and will report back then.

I'm afraid that this is just going to have to remain as being one of those mysteries in life.

I've opened up IE9 in another computer and have checked every single setting, one-by-one, in both PCs. The new pages containing Javascript open quite happily in a new window in the other PC. On the offending PC they remain blank.

Both PCs run the same AV software, as well as MalwareBytes Anti-malware.

I give up. I shall continue to use IE9 as little as possible, and should the "new window" problem arise again I'll simply switch to using the other PC.

Ok try this.Go into View.Zoom.And if the zoom is set to over 100%.Rest it to 100% reboot and see if it works.

Or this one.Remove all versions of Java from your Computer,Download the latest version but do not run it save it on your computer somewhere so that you can find it again.Reboot into safe mode and run it on there and then reboot and see if that helps.

I should have asked do you have Norton on your computer as that used to interfere with the download.

I had the exact same problem within the last year or so and it took me about 3 weeks to sort it out.

I actually moved to Firefox as it was so bad and there I have stayed, even though I managed to fix the java problem.

buteman....

Neither PC appears to have Java installed. Not shown in the Control Panel list of software.

Both PCs run Norton AV and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. No other security programs.

There doesn't appear to be any difference between the two PCs with respect to installed software, - although the "offending" PC has a number of additional programs such as Adobe CS5, Dreamweaver etc.

For now I'm giving it a rest. IE9 is most definitely NOT my browser of choice. When I need to use it to see a page that contains Javascript open in a new window then I'll use my "alternative" PC, - a laptop.

Black marks for IE9!!
