mobi files for kindle

hi, i have downloaded some ebooks in mobi format, but have been unable to open them or transfer the to my kindle. i am using vista ultimate. any advice would be welcome, cheers

I suggest you install Calibre, a free e-book manager, which allows you to convert lots of different formats into Kindle format and then upload to the Kindle

If they ARE mobi files. Plug the kindle into PC, explore the files.

The ebooks are in the Documents folder on the kindle.

Just copy and paste or drag the mobi file to the Documents folder, the kindle should then show them.
