Dell Inspiron 1525 won't allow me into BIOS

My daughter's laptop has stopped booting into Winodws Vista SP1 32 bit. It gets past the Dell BIOS screen and starts trying to load Windows, but sticks at the small rippling bar at the bottom of the splash screen, just before the Windows logo appears. This rippling bar just goes on and on.
I've tried starting it in Safe mode, but the scrolling list of drivers gets as far as Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys then stops.
I've tried Last Known Good Configuration - nothing happens.
I've restarted the computer with the Dell operating system disk in the optical drive, in order to run a repair. But the computer won't boot from the drive - it just goes to the startup options menu again.
The Dell BIOS screen has no indication of what key to press, in order to get into the BIOS and change the boot order to the optical drive. I've tried every key I can think of - F8, F10, F11, Esc... and so on. Nothing will persuade the computer to get me into the BIOS.
Any thoughts on how I can get the computer to boot from the OS disk, please?

this any good found on google
DELL•After switching on your computer, let the DELL logo appear before pressing the F2 key until Entering Setup is displayed on the screen. •Previous versions of DELL might require to press CTRL+ALT+ENTER to access the BIOS set up menu. •The DELL laptops will use the Fn+ESC or Fn+F1 keys to access the BIOS set up.

MM1953 - F2 worked! Thanks a million! Why on earth don't Dell show this on theeir splash screen like everyone else does?
I can now run a repair from the CD.
Many thanks again.

Just a follow-up: getting into the BIOS enabled me to boot from the Windows Vista CD and run a startup repait. Complete success!
Many thanks again for your help, mobileman1953.
