AVI to DVD

I want to convert an AVI file to a DVD to play in a normal DVD player.

Any recommendations for a cheap or free program to convert the files?

As Said use Flick but make an Iso file with it first if that is ok ie plays then burn it to disc .Flick is good but it is also capable of burninga scrabbled video which is useless
