Windows media player won't play dvd no decoders installed

Have a problem with windows media player 11 it installed correctly but when i try to play dvd's get error message can't play no decoders installed, is there somewhere i can download for free??

These are commercial dvd's ? if not what format and how/where were they madevlc is usually capable of playing any format

There were registery problems showing with directx so i used directx eradicator to uninstall but now won't let me reinstall. help!!

Now its trying to reinstall adobe flashplayer but cannot locate file dssound.dll so keeps failing

They are educational dvd's as school laptops. they have TS files???

Sugar when you say .ts as in say ''my story.ts'' or is it VideoTS.the latter being afolder containing videotsVOb If the former then try playing in vlc by selecting one of the files either right click and open with VLC or open the indiviual file in vlc .If the latter (VideoTS folder) again please clarify what is in the folder it should have sevral vob files let us know
