Brother printer/scanner

My Epson Rx520 gave up the ghost, I bought a Brother DCP-J315 This will not work as the Epson, when scanning you can't adjust the scanned area etc A MFC model is what I should have got , after hours reading the instruction manual this has Scansoft Paperport11SE. Can anybody recommend a cheap/free prog that can control the scanning, I suppose it is really going to be, scan A4 size and crop in a Photoshop type program.

Depending on your version of MS Windows you may be able to use Windows Fax & Scan.

Well thanks very much Northumbria61,, it is just the job, can't afford the non free versions ! It will do most things we want, it so difficult to find what printer does what until it is too late. I am prone to think each manufacturer does the same thing, should have done more research. Thanks again once again Helproom comes to the rescue Regards David
