Intel Core 2 Duo help

Hi, I'm a bit out of date and need some help. I have just acquired my first multi core PC but I don't understand it, I'm used to an Athlon XP 3000.

I have got a Intel core 2 DUO E6300, CPUZ reports it as 1.86Ghz. Dose this mean it has 2 processors both running at 1.86Ghz? so in effect having a total speed of 3.72Ghz ? If so what is the x6 multiplier also reported?

HELP!!

The multiplier simply brings the clock speed of your motherboard (300Mhz in your case) up to the CPU frequency/speed.
