Getting decent sound?

Hi everyone, I have recently bought a Bush TV for my daughter, a nice bit of flat screen do everything kit. To me the sound is not right, I am not looking at a fault on the TV I just don`t think it was made to the sort of standard I would like (otherwise it would be twice the price) Can anyone advise on using external speakers please. I have Creative speakers on my PC which are brilliant and a Bose music center. I do not expect that standard just something to make it sound less cheap and tinny.
