Depending how serious you want to take this and how much you are willing to spend, you may be better off getting something like this - Saitek Pro Series Yoke, Throttle & Rudder Pedals

I have been flying light aircraft quite frequently since July last year, and I had a quick shot on my Microsoft Flight Simulator a few a weeks ago using a cheap joystick I've owned from years ago, and I found it quite difficult to use - a lot harder than the real thing! The biggest problem was the lack of rudder pedals which you use quite a lot (especially on your final approach where you tend to keep the yoke as still as possible and use the rudders to keep you aligned with the runway). But then if you are just doing this a for a small amount of leisure time then it's probably not worth the investment.
