Acer Monitor problem.

Son in Law had problems with his computer as the picture would fade away completely or come on again if you left clicked the mouse.

Thinking it was a computer problem I tried another old computer on it and had the same problem.

So that made it a monitor problem. It is an Acer 23" monitor but I don't know the model number.

As soon as you tried to open Menu or get as far as All programs and the picture would fade away.

Now she could get it to work connecting to her work place and I could get it to work in safe mode so not sure if the Monitor is a bin case or someone has been messing with the controls.

She has it in a darkish corner and the light was pretty poor so could not get a good look at it.

It cannot be a driver problem as it would not work properly on the other computer either.

Anybody any ideas as to what I should be looking for or do you think it is scrap.

Ok thanks for all of the help.adjusted a few of the controls but still not right when shutting down and starting up.

I will have a good read through the manual tomorrow again to see if i can find any other problems.

It works Ok in between so that's a bonus

Nope old problem coming back where it eventually blacks out the screen.

Nothing I have tried helps at all so looks like a scrap case.

Might have a look in the back and see if I can see any problems.

Anything I should stay away from when I open it.

With the old type CRT monitors, the faults outlined usually meant a replacement was needed (our local recycling depot have an increasing stockpile, including tv's), but with modern technology?.

Looking at some of the prices of new monitors with good warranties, then I know where my thoughts would be!.

Don't think my Daughter could afford to buy it though.

Why don't you get it for her as a Christmas present? I find women particularly difficult to buy for at that time of year, but you know exactly what she needs. Job sorted.

Looks like I would need to win the lottery first and not much hope of that.
