Did I download IE9 ?

Hi all, Asus M4A78LT-M LE + AMD Phenom II x 2 + 4Gb RAM. W7 Ultimate.
For some time now, I’ve been unable to install IE9. Today, I was looking at the Windows Live page and it invited a IE9 download, so I tried again.
Surprisingly, I had a message saying Install Success & need to re-start to take effect. I eagerly restarted and clicked on Help > about IE, but was disappointed that it is still v8.

As mentioned in a previous post, although I can’t install IE9, I can - & have installed - SP1 !

What I did notice after ‘download/install’ was that, instead of IE starting with my usual Google page, it started with MSN,,,, so something must have happened – but what ? I put it back to open with Google, but did I actually download/install IE9 to somewhere ? Was I seeing things ?

I take it you tried Help. And about I/E it tells you what version you have.

If IE9 you will have no search bar on it.

Should have asked is it the 32 bit version that you have.

Maybe downloaded the wrong version but not likely.

Try typing Internet Explorer into search when you click on the start globe on the bottom left.

It should tell you what versions you have.

I have the 32 Bit 64 bit and Internet Explorer no add ons.You may have the extra one that you just downloaded.

Thanks guys, Sorry - I'm using 32bit W-7.

I looked in the search bar & came up with:

Internet Explorer &

Internet Explorer No Add-ons.

Both show as v8.

It looks like I really was seeing things !

I hope it will take SP2 when/if it comes out.
