AMD CPU compatability.Hi

Hi All. I have read somewhere that AMD Skt am2 and am2+ am3 are compatable or that am2+--am3 are rearward compatable can anyone shed any light on this please I have a PC with skt am2 and would like to upgrade to a faster cpu mine is a Athalon2 x2 5600 2.9 Ghz and I would like to go 3.4Ghz, or more cores if possible, should I stick with what I have for now, any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi unfortunatly its a Dell Dimension E521 if I could fit another motherboard to it I would any idea if any will fit please. Drybones
