please help,windows update keep asking me to update these files

hi everyone

please i need your help so urgently.

I have windows7,home premium,32bit

the problem is everytimes i use windows update and check to see if is there any update available it telling me that these files needs updating.these files are:

-Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 x86 (KB2478663)

Download size: 4.9 MB

I had already updated those files before,because in windows updates a message come up saying your computer is up to date.

when i restarted my pc as windows asked,i went to windows update to see if is there any more update,the (same those files) come up to update.

i am really getting so fedup.

yesterday 03/10/2011,i went to microsoft website and downloaded those files manually,switch my pc off.

tonight 4/10/2011,i tried to go to windows update to check if is there any update(guess what?)

the same files come up to update.enough is enough.

Kinldy can you please help me solving this problem and i will be so appreciated

Do you have the option in Control Panel for Automatic updates? , if so do the following, open the automatic update icon and select the option ' Notify me before downloading'.

restart computer

When the update option comes up select advanced, and then you can untick the downloads you do not want. You will then be asked if you want to be reminded again , say NO.

This is the XP system, I assume windows 7 has a similar system.

If you right click on any listed WindowsUpdates that you don't want in Windows7, you can choose to Hide it in future.

The Last time i had an Update for my windows xp home edition it gave me a corrupt file and froze my computer and i had to have a man to fix it so now i have stopped the updates do i really need them i have a good anti virus system and i check my computer on a regular basis, Nutty Norm

thank you all for your reply,i will follow all your answer,and let you know later for the result.

about(nutty norm),yes you really needs to use windows update,because hackers might get access to yours windows operating system and steals your username and password.

i have as well AVG internet security 2011,3 programs anti spyware(i run them one program at a time).

yes,please you really needs to use windows update.
