Desktop shortcuts

Using XP, recently a couple of strange events have happened, 1) on start up on internet exp, pc seems to skip set browser, Yahoo, I then select Google and it appears almost directly, 2) the shortcuts on my desktop to connect to other sites have suddenly stopped working, shortcuts to internal progs are ok Can anyone help....thank you

Maybe remove the shortcuts and add new ones in there place.

Try it with 1 and see if it works.
