Easiest Install ccleaner its free and it will list the vcookies you can then transfer the needed ones Like sites that retain your password etc . then regularly just get it to dump the cookies it= will only get rid of un needed ones enter link description here

If you use Chrome as your browser, click on the spanner, click on options, under the bonnet, click on content settings. In there you can stop cookies from being set and clear them after each session.

In IE 9 click on tools (cog wheel top left), internet options,delete browsing history. CCleaner easier as eedcam says.
