Problem with Kodak Easy Share system

Hello

I have been having problems with my Kodak easy share system.

In device manager the camera is listed as being an unknown device, I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the camera but it still remains as an unknown device.

When I click properties I am told no driver is installed, yet when I go through the driver wizard I am told a better match cannot be found.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Richard

We must have posted at the same time.

The camera is a Kodak DX 6440, quite old now.

I have a Kodak DX3700 Easy Share, which as caused a number of problems similar to those that you have mentioned. On Kodak's advice I changed the firmware, but this didn't help. In the end I gave up and used a card reader, but at the same time kept the dock station for charging the batteries.

I may well end up doing the same.

Its odd when I do a search for drivers for the DX 6440 I end up being directed to driver checking software, and when I seek reviews of the various software I get warned off by people who have horror stories to tell about them, just can't seem to find the driver itself.

I got a card reader, but I had problems with that as well, I kept being asked to manualy configure the memory range, and I couldn't find a way round that either.

Was your card reader a name brand? It was suggested that the problem lay in my using a cheap generic reader.

Thanks

Richard

PNY Technologies is the name on the card reader, purchased from PC World many moons ago. I would think that any card reader would do the job, perhaps at look at Amazon reviews might help?.

Perhaps another hint about Kodak Easy Share systems, are the batteries in the camera. With the DX3700, the batteries are 'fixed' in a special mounting block. The block can easily be unfixed, so making ordinary rechargeable batteries a cheaper solution. Not sure if the same applies to the camera you have. You may need to check this out, if you want to save a little time (battery spares) and money?.

Thanks for the tip, the battery packs are expensive.
