Computer won't boot from any device

Hi, I recently attempted to install Windows 98 on my computer, but after formatting my second hard drive for the installation, it wouldn't format it without a floppy disk, which I don't have. So I quit the installation and tried to install Ubuntu and Windows xp, but both failed the installation. On my last attempt to install XP, the computer restarted to run the setup, but after the bios screen, nothing happened. I have tried booting both Hard Disks and from the DVD drive again but all I get is a black screen and now the one hard drive isn't showing as an option.

Is my motherboard done for or is there a way to revive my computer.

Thanks, Jake

But it has installed fine on this drive twice before, and at least usually shows up in the bios. Even that aside, it doesn't explain why I can't even boot from a cd

Thanks for the link, but I've tried that before, and the only cd option still needs a floppy disk to format the hard disk. Also, I can't run any boot cd, whatever I try to boot I just get the black screen

the link is for a floppy disc, download the file, then put a blank floppy in the drive and double click on the file you downloaded

Also, the problem seems to be the computer not wanting to boot anything, otherwise id have thought one of my other os disks would at least start something. I've tries windows 98, xp, 7 and ubuntu
