MS Silverlight - Do I need it?

I run with W7 Home Premium 64 bit. My MS Updates is offering Silverlight. I have done a search on this forum and most entries go back to 2008.

Do I need Silverlight? What will it do for my computer? I would welcome your comments and advice please.

It is meant to improve your browsing on those sites with Silverlight Silverlight. There is no harm in installing it but it is not essential.
