Applications fail to open

Applications initially fail to open & raise 0xc0000142 error, but sometimes open on second attempt. how can I solve this problem?

Maybe give Reg Cleaner a run if you have it installed.

I would also give Malwarebytes a run as well just to see if it finds any problems.

I am wary of reg cleaners but I would run sfc /scannow to see if it finds any problems.

It works Ok for me so just your problem.

Maybe try running sfc /scannow in comand prompt and see if that works.

You will probably need the XP cd if asked.it is not needed on W/7

or Give malwarebytes a run to see if it finds any problems.
