Setting up new monitor

I've just bought a new LG Flatron E2750V 27 inch LED LCD Monitor, I seam to be having a problem when connecting to the PC. If I use a HDMI cable I end up with 1" thick black edge all the way round the monitor, connect the monitor up with a DVI cable and every thing is back to full screen.
I must be missing some thing but I seem to be going round in circles with the set up buttons on the monitor, tried altering display with PC controls and nothing changes.
Resolution is set at 1920x1080 and using DVI cable it's great 27" screen but as soon as I connect the HDMI cable it's back to a 25" screen.
Any body got any ideas about what I am doing wrong.

I don't understand your problem, if it is great with the DVI connection why try the HDMI?

As per Nontek - I would stick with the DVI Cable

What graphics card do you have? Nvidia's control panel has a feature that allows you to manually street the screen to desired size to fit.
He may be using HDMI as a way to also carry sound.
Can you confirm 1920x1080 is the resolution when using the HDMI connection.
Your TV may also have a sizing/zoom feature.
