Oldie catching up with phone technology (very slowly!)

I've just got my first smartphone. It's a Sony Ericsson Xperia running Android 2.1. Not exactly state of the art, I know, but it's a huge leap forward from my old Nokia brick!

I'm discovering all kinds of goodies on the phone - a radio, GPS and so on!

My question is this - given that the phone has internet access, should I be running some kind of security software on it? There doesn't seem to be any such thing already loaded.

If the answer is yes, can anyone recommend any freeware, please?

Brilliant! That seems to answer all my questions. I should have checked the rest of the PCA website before asking it, shouldn't I?!

Many thanks gengiscant - much appreciated.
