Is there any solution to this problem?
I have received some text (notes for a lecture and subsequently for publication) written on a very old Apple and saved as a jpeg!
It is therefore impossible , as far as I know, to make corrections to the text. There are several spelling corrections that need to be made and the whole thing needs to be edited to fit the space available It is too long to re-type. IS there any solution? My OS is MS Vista and I use MSOffice. I investigated a trial download of OKdo-gif-tif-jpeg which has converted it to a word doc but even so it seems imnpossible to make any changes to the text.

Do you have any OCR (optical character reader) software? Sometimes supplied with scanners. This came via Google:
You could print the jpeg, then scan it with ocr software.

I'm sure I have OCR somewhere, with my scanner probably; I'll try that. Thanks.

Yes, it works -the problem is solved! The original jpeg is poorish so the OCR needs a lot of correcting , but at least it IS now correctable. Thanks very much John Bunyan.
