File copying - but not all files are copied. Why?

I have a 320GB back up sata HD. On it are my files and photos.
I decided to back up my photos onto another HD, but after trying three times, I find that it is not copying all my photos. It doesn't come up with any warning boxes, telling me the photos are corrupt, etc.
As its a folder about 30GB size, it would take me a long time to go and find which photos had not been copied.
Is there a folder size limit or something?
I am running Windows Vista home premium 32 bit.
any ideas would be welcombe.
