CAPS BUTTON PROBLEM

apologies for the lack of proper cap use in this query, but all will be explained. i'm sitting at my girlfriend's laptop, a new machine running windows 7, and there's a nightmare problem with the caps button.

say you're typing into a box like this one. your cursor appears ready to begin typing, but when you click caps (or then from caps back to lower case)it vanishes. this means that every time you wish to change case, you then have to reset the cursor back after the last character. eg writing the word 'Caps':

(press caps button to upper) (type 'C')

as you can imagine, this is a complete nightmare, constantly stopping & starting, when you even remember.

i'm hoping it's something simple, a setting that needs to be changed. any ideas?

thanks.

Same in safe mode?

When did the problem begin? Can you relate the onset to the installation or removal of hardware or software? update to W7? antivirus? other program?
