Outlook 2007 Very Slow

I am running Vista with MS Office 2007 and Norton 360. My system is set up to use MS Outlook. N360 licence was renewed online this week, no other changes to my system. Two weeks ago I suddenly found I could not get into my calendar and yesterday I found typing emails very slow. I have no difficulties sending or receiving, just the typing is very slow. Having typed a word it takes 3-4 seconds to show. I have tried the normal easy stuff of defrag and cleanup.
