Wireless keyboard problem

I have a new Logitech Mk320 wireless key board. The hot keys do not work on my win xp sp3 system but are working on Ubuntu on a separate hard drive. I have run Sfc and checked that the Hid service is on automatic. I have tried different usb ports and uninstalled the usb pots and allowed to reload. I have uninstalled the keyboard in device manager and allowed to reload. All the normal keys are working but the multimedia hot keys have no effect, the red light on the hdd does not come on when a hot key is pressed.

I use a Logitech Illuminated keyboard. You must install the Logitech software before your hotkeys will work.

Hi ams, I am assured by logitech that no software is required, windows should be able to provide.
