Error 0x80070570

I get the above error when attempting a system backup om my laptop via the Windows Backup and Restore software with the remark: "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". The Knowledge Base articles relate to the same error number but being displayed for functions other than backup. I have Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2 installed.

Do you know which file is corrupted?

No. I have tried running Little Registry Cleaner, no difference. The backup fails about 25% through.

System Restore doesn't allow me to go back far enough. I have done restore 3 times to the earliest possible date, no luck.

Do a repair not a restore see ho to do a repair reinstall here
