Firefox/Google problem with browser

I am using a Firefox opening page with a Google search bar in the middle and also a black band with contacts to mail etc. on my lap top. I have tried to obtain the same thing on another computer I have just started using. I may be being a bit thick but I just don't seem able to find a way of doing this. Early reply would be appreciated. Regards Carper

Are you referring to the Google Toolbar? If so download it and then under view and toolbars tick Google Toolbar. However it may not work with Firefox 5 and you will need the Add-on Compatibility Extension.

Or you may need to set your home page to Google. Open the Google page and then set it as the home page using tools - options - general tab.

Thank you for your reply which proved to be the answer. I uninstalled version 5.6 and downloaded an earlier version from File Hippo and I have achieved what I wanted. Thanks for your interest. Regards Carper
