Dell inspiron 1545 won't boot, please help!

I'd appreciate any help with this please!

I have a dell 1545 laptop. Earlier today hubby turned it on and it said there was a virus and it was shutting down, and now I can't get it to do anything! When I turn it on the dell sign comes up with the F2 and F12 options but then it does nothing. I've tried running the system tests but it keeps getting stuck on the 'confidence test'. Any ideas please?

F2 anf F5 option may mean it is not booting from the proper drive. maybe try the Bios and see if it is booting from CD drive or floppy drive.

If it says floppy disable it and make it start with CD.

At least I think it should be CD maybe someone can confirm or not.

Even though it does not have a floppy drive working on it sometimes it is marked as enabled in the Bios.
