Is that a Beta version? I went to the Java website and was advised to update to 6.26

I have been back to the Sun/Java website, no mention of version 7 just Recommended Version 6 Update 26, think I'll stick there until it comes up on their website.

My new iMac updated yesterday....Version 6.6, but versions differ from platform to platform. If it's offered as an update, then I would install it. Not on my lappy at the moment but will check later.

It's not unusual for developers web sites to be "behind the times" in facilitating their own auto update function.

Just look at how often new versions of Firefox appear on FileHippo or Majorgeeks before the program itself will auto update

cocteau48,

True, and in the old day's I used to install them long before they appeared in updates. I'm running BETA utilities for Lion (Onyx) on my newbie without any issues, but there is a lot to be said for the "if it aint broke don't fix it" philosophy too :))
