cant send/forward e-mail in hotmail

For first time yesterday could not forward or send any e-mails in hotmail. Noticed that when the forward or new message page came up, the insert bar; attatchments, word doc etc etc came on for very,very short time then went. Today found that this bar did come on, stayed for about 20 secs then went. On trying to forward or send another e-mail subsequent, the insert bar appeared and then went very very quickly. All other features ok. Can submit stuff like this form, and my non hotmail account is not affected. Have vista, mcafee and malwarebytes which all scan clean. Am baffled, can anyone help please? Looked at numerous helprooms/forums online and many having this problem which is persistent. There were refs pointing to Silverlight as the problem with different fixes. Most common was to uninstall and reinstall. So uninstalled, but before reinstalling tried to forward and send e-mails. Guess what - they both worked! I have no idea why maybe an auto update caused problem. Am carrying on without Silverlight is OK (any info welcome) but will leave alone "if it aint broke dont fix it" I guess.

Good to hear things are working for you again. What is Silverlight and do I need it - probably not. See here link text I have Sky Go Desktop (the new version of Sky Player) and Silverlight IS needed for that to work.
