Mouse will not work in safe mode

I had to uninstall Kaspersky internet security suite 2001 as it had stopped working (I do not know why) I was trying to reinstall it but got an error message saying "Internal error 2753.avpinst.dll" the installation then rolled back, then my PC froze so I thought I'd run malware software in safe mode, but when I got into safe mode I was unable to navigate with mouse or track pad.so had to press the little button to close PC down this happened each time I tried it (3 times)

Drivers are not loaded in safe mode. You will need to use keyboard short cuts.

Possibly if you enter BIOS and make sure USB legacy for DOS is enabled then a USB mouse would work.
