Hi all From fist turning my pc on it can take up to 3 mins to get to the password screen ,after iv entered the password it can take up to 5 mins before my desktop opens ( it just stays black), the odd thing is i think all the programs are there and the desktop is open but the screen just stays black for ages. I'm running vista thanks for any help.

Check Antivirus is not doing a boot scan,

Search - type msconfig- press ok

how many programs in startup tab?
