Google chrome help

I have downloaded several applications to Google Chrome web browser but only some of them appear in the top right corner beside the spanner, anyone here know why this might be happening?

Extensions, Appear next to the Spanner.

Apps, Appear if you click the + for a New Tab. (Mine do).
