Upgrading a laptop

My son has a Lenovo G550 with an NITU1 motherboard. It isn't really powerful enough for him to run games on, due to the onboard video card. Is it possible to install another motherboard into a laptop or is it easier and cheaper to just buy him a desktop?

You cannot upgrade the Laptop, it mean shelling out for a new PC
