I do not know what operating system or version of Explorer you are using, hower if you are using XP, upgrade to IE8 or window 7 to IE9. This should cure the problem as it checks your system ansd downloads new files as required.

If you do not wish to go this route, open Control Panel, Add/Remove and when loaded, look to the left for windows components, scroll down until you find internet Explorer, and untick, re-boot machine, now repeat the last process but tick it instead. You may need a system CD/DVD for this.

If any of these symptoms apply, maybe download ShellExView, then in ShellExView click on Options, Filter by Extension Type, and select Context Menu then disable non-Microsoft context menu handlers one by one and see each time if the problem is solved.

If disabling one does not solve the problem, undo the disabled item and disable the next non-Microsoft handler.

Les28 done as you advised and the offending extension was Name CBrowserHelperObject Object. Company Dell Inc. It is now disabled and all seems to be working well now. Thanks for your help.
