DVD RW not working

I have recently reformatted my PC and reinstalled windows. I have a DVD Drive, a DVD RW and a CD ROM drive (as I have a CDROM pogram that I keep in there.

The first drive is listed as DVDRW, the second as DVD RAM and the third as CD ROM. I am unable to burn anything on to DVD using the DVDRW (listed as DVD RAM) I just get error messages or nothing happens. Both drives can play DVDs.

Does anyone have any ideas why I am unable to use the burner? Thanks in advance for any help given.

Did you install all your motherboard drivers?

What operating system, XP, Vista, Windows7?

What program are you using to burn dvd's?

What is the error message?
