XP Logon issues

When my computer running xp pro goes into Log off or stand by mode after the preset time I am unable to log on using my username & password - the message prompt is 'wrong password please check caps lock etc ......' I then either have to restart or cttrl alt del & log onto my admin account & then log off for my username & password to work ... I have reset my password using both control panel & 'control user passwords ' but with no change

Any pointer gratefully recieved

Disabling prompt for password after Windows XP resumes from standby or hibernation

  1. Click Start, Settings, and Control Panel
  2. Double-click Power Options
  3. Uncheck the "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby" option.
  4. Click Apply and then Ok.
