system cannot find drive?

I have purchased a Dell Poweredge 1850. I think i have setup the Ultra320 SCSI hard drives correct as it shows up in the bios. The Drive slots into a port labeled 0 ( for RAID i think ). When i boot, the windows server and xp setup from disk wont find the hard drive. I booted in to linux and that wont find the disks either.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Thanks for those. I have inserted my windows xp pro disk and it boots in to the windows setup but fails to find my hard drives as no driver is available, but it refuses to boot in to my windows server disk, that has the drivers!
